Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy which proposes that every situation is made up of 5 components; triggers, thoughts, emotions, physical sensations and behaviours. CBT looks at what parts of this cycle keeps your difficulty going and then implements an array of strategies to break the cycle. We also look at what past experiences may have made you more vulnerable in developing the problem to help increase awareness of why we are triggered by the things we are.
I treat a range of disorders. Which CBT has been proven to be effective for including;
- Anxiety disorders e.g.- generalised anxiety disorder, panic disorder, phobias, agoraphobia, health anxiety, social anxiety , Obsessive Compulsive Disorder etc
- Depressive disorders and low self esteem
- Trauma and PTSD
Are you asking yourself 'Who am I?' At Just Breathe I can help you to explore your values, goals, and beliefs to gain insight into your identity and purpose.
Are you in constant autopilot, just getting through the day? (We all are to an extent!) but when we are constantly living in the past (ruminating/thinking over things repeatedly) or living in the future (of 'what if' thoughts) we can miss out on the joy of the here and now. Learn how to cultivate a more present and mindful approach to life, which can help to reduce stress and anxiety.
Focus on your strengths, by developing effective coping strategies to replace unhelpful ways of coping to increase happiness and well-being.
Do you find yourself making predictions about what is going to happen? Imagining the worse case scenario, do you assume you know what others are thinking about you, are you your own worst critic? At Just Breathe I can help you learn your unhelpful thinking biases (we all have them!). You can learn how you can notice them, evaluate them and ultimately challenge them to perceive situations differently so they don't get in the way of you fulfilling your goals.
Learn why you have developed specific coping strategies. Do you find it difficult to express emotions? Do you find yourself avoiding different situations? At Just Breathe I can help you identify where you learnt to engage in certain behaviours that are limiting you, make sense of what's keeping you stuck and how you can break the vicious cycle to learn different ways to cope.
Learn how to communicate effectively, resolve conflicts, and build stronger, healthier relationships.

Yes, i have a 24 hour cancellation policy. When you book in for your first session, you will receive a therapy agreement which includes information regarding fees, cancellation policy, confidentiality etc.
Yes, prior to your first session you will receive an intake form which gives you the opportunity to share information in as much detail as you would like. I review your intake form prior to the first session, if I feel from this initial information that we are not the best service to offer you treatment I will inform you of this prior to the first session.
The number of sessions is dependant on several different factors but usually ranges between 6-20 sessions. However some people only require 2 or 3 sessions to understand what has made them vulnerable to their problem and what is keeping their difficultity going. For some people this can be enough for them to then independently make meaningful change. If you have a set budget and can only commit to a limited number of sessions please let me know in advance to allow me to try and tailor therapy to this. Similarly if you feel you need 20+ sessions there is no restriction on this.
Payments are made at time of booking to secure your session slot. Unfortunately if payment is not made slots will be available for other clients to book.
I recommend attending sessions regularly for best results (Ideally weekly or fortnightly).
However there is no obligation to attend a set number of sessions or a set frequency. You are in control of this.
In order to provide the best therapy for you and for billing purposes. I am required to keep clinical notes and collect personal data.
